Tender description

To carry out a thinning of 1 in 3 trees from the 46ha within the work site and clear-fell 7 in 10 stems from 3ha worth of coops. Trees selected to be removed are to be those which are less well developed, poorly formed, narrow trees; leaving larger trees with deeper crowns. The thinning should be done in a variable manner to help create a natural forest impression. Lot 1: To carry out a thinning of 1 in 3 trees from the 46ha within the work site. RSPB staff will provide a typical example of the trees which are to be harvested and which are to be left. The thinning should be done in a variable manner to help create a natural forest impression. To clear-fell 7 in 10 stems from 3ha worth of coops. RSPB staff will mark these areas and mark the trees which are to be left unfelled within them, in advance of work commencing. Any track work required prior to commencement of work is to be organised and paid for from the timber sales and managed by the Forest Works Manager in consultation with RSPB staff. Any damage caused to tracks, turning circles, gateways or culverts to be repaired during or post timber work; paid for from the timber sales and managed by the Forest works Manager in consultation with RSPB staff.
