Cherry Tree Allotments Expansion

Tender description

Watford Borough Council is seeking expression of interest from suppliers for the expansion of Cherry Tree Allotments, Berry Avenue, Watford, WD24 6ST. In summary the expansion will entail the development of plot of land of approximately 3500m2 to the east of and adjoining the established and operating allotment site. Historically the land to be developed formed part of the allotment gardens but was converted to car park usage for the neighbouring commercial plot. Following change of use of the commercial building to residential use, the car park plot was returned to Watford Borough Council and will reinstated to its former use as allotments. The project is currently progressing through RIBA Stage 3 and 4 of design development. An early conceptual master plan scheme for the proposed allotments is attached to give a reasonable initial understanding of the project. Our intention is publish an invitation to tender in August and award contract w/c 26 October 2026 with target start on site date of 2 November 2026. We anticipate the construction duration to be approximately 10-12 weeks.
