M&E REMEDIAL WORKS AT CARRICKFERGUS AMPHITHEATRE

Tender description

The contract is for essential mechanical and electrical (M&E) remedial works at the Amphitheatre Wellness Centre, Carrickfergus, primarily focused on the swimming pool environment and associated plant infrastructure. Following a feasibility assessment, the project follows an option which prioritises technical efficiency, maintainability, and operational resilience for this live leisure facility. The scope of works includes, but is not limited to: • Pool AHU Replacement: Replacement of the existing external pool Air Handling Unit (AHU) with a new unit housed within a new newly constructed enclosed internal plantroom (approximately 50.5m2). • Air-Source Heat Pump (ASHP) Installation: Provision of a new 444.4kW external ASHP installation within a dedicated new compound adjacent to the service yard to support a heat pump-led heating strategy. • Chiller Replacement: Replacement of the existing unit with a new 221.3kW variable speed, air-cooled chiller and associated chilled water tie-ins. • M&E Enabling Works: Extensive modifications to Low Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) and Chilled Water (CHW) systems, including new heat exchangers, circulation pumps, header modifications, and full controls integration. • Associated Civil and Structural Works: Construction of new reinforced concrete bases, strip and pad foundations, and the installation of 2.4m high Paladin security fencing with anti-climb tops to match existing site enclosures. • Service Yard Modifications: Integral enabling works including new yard-slab arrangements and structural foundations required to support the revised plant layout. • Retention of Services: The existing gas-fired boilers are to be retained to provide backup and supplementary heating within the revised heating strategy.
