The RAF is committed to achieving its Net Zero 2040 ambition and supporting the UK’s broader Net Zero 2050 legislation through key strategies such as the Defence Aviation Net Zero Strategy (DANZ), Defence Operational Energy Strategy, and Sustainable Support Strategy. Renewing the strategic partnership with the University of Cambridge’s Aviation Impact Accelerator (AIA) is essential to maintaining momentum in addressing critical challenges like Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production, non-CO2 emissions mitigation, and operational efficiency. The AIA’s world-leading expertise and bespoke modelling capabilities will enable the RAF to make informed, cost-effective decisions on technology adoption, resource allocation, and operational changes, while also supporting knowledge transfer and collaboration with industry and government stakeholders. This partnership ensures the RAF remains a leader in sustainable aviation, aligned with national and international priorities.
