Tender description

The Council is undertaking the refurbishment and extension of Doon Academy including the Leisure Centre under a Design and Build Contract. The project aims to extend and modernise the existing facility while demolishing ageing and problematic areas of the school (namely the existing 2-storey block) which contain asbestos and aren’t economic to refurbish. The Commissioning Management Service shall be appointed directly by the Council to provide independent technical assurance of the mechanical and electrical commissioning process. It is the intention to engage a Commissioning Manager from RIBA Stage 3 through Stage 7 due to the project already having been progressed through Stages 1 & 2. The role is not to undertake commissioning, nor to relieve the Design & Build Contractor of its contractual obligations, but to: - Provide independent oversight - Ensure commission-ability of the design - Monitor installation quality and compliance with the design - Witness commissioning activities - Validate records and documentation - Protect the Client’s operational and performance interests - Reduce post-completion defects and performance issues Lot 1: The Council is undertaking the refurbishment and extension of Doon Academy including the Leisure Centre under a Design and Build Contract.
