Passive Acoustic Weapon Locating System The Army’s current passive acoustic system (Advanced Sound-ranging Programme (ASP)) is out of service. There remains an enduring need for passive weapon locating capability to enhance battle winning counter fires and increase the Warfighting Division’s lethality. Therefore, SERPENS will accelerate the SERPENS Acoustic system and reduce the capability gap. The user requires 8 systems which are organic, responsive, persistent, protected, passive and mobile system, optimised to detect, acquire, and assess adversary indirect fire threats at ranges available to peer opponents.  The system must be survivable on the modern battlefield, deployable with all land forces, in order to support effectively the counter fires battle within the warfighting Division and the Light, Armoured Infantry and the Brigade Combat Teams. Procure a passive acoustic weapon locating system that uses forward-deployed sensors and associated communications capabilities to provide accurate enemy point of origin, point of impact and weapon classification across a divisional frontage. The system will embrace an open architecture approach through Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA) and the Land Open Systems Architecture (LOSA), as mandated by Def Stan 23-009 and the Army Mission Systems Integration (MSI) strategy. To enable the system to link with in-service TacCIS and fire control software. There will be through life support for up to 5 yrs, followed by enduring support for up to 30 yrs.
