Tender description
The Cambridge Guided Busway is a public transport system designed to improve travel efficiency in and around Cambridge, UK. It is the longest guided busway in the world, spanning approximately 25 miles (40 km). The system was developed to ease congestion on Cambridge’s busy roads by repurposing old railway lines into dedicated bus lanes. A key feature of the guided busway is its concrete guideway, which allows buses to travel automatically along the tracks without the need for driver steering. The buses are equipped with small guide wheels that keep them precisely aligned on the track, ensuring smooth and reliable movement. Once off the guided sections, these buses can switch to regular roads, enabling a seamless transition to other parts of the city and surrounding areas. The project is to upgrade the cameras x 79 and the information points x 17 on the Guided Busway from St Ives to Cambridge City and also to upgrade the cameras at the Park and Rides in Cambridge at St Ives , Babraham , there is also a request to install 4 new cameras on the busway and also to install ANPR at Maddingly , New market , Trumpington and Milton park and rides. Keywords: Surveillance , Camera , Installation
