Aberdeen South Harbour Link Road Ground Investigation

Tender description

The purpose of this contract is to undertake the main ground investigation (GI) works to provide geotechnical parameters and contamination / land quality data to provide information on the ground conditions beneath the proposed Aberdeen South Harbour Link Road to aid detailed design of the Link Road and associated bridge and also investigate the risks identified within the Geotechnical Risk Register for the Scheme. Lot 1: The main objectives of the Ground Investigation are summarised as follows: - Investigate the ground conditions across the Scheme. - Information for an assessment of ground conditions and geotechnical parameters for the design of the Scheme, through geotechnical in-situ and laboratory testing. - Determination of insitu CBR values to facilitate pavement design. - Investigate road surface to provide information on existing road design and formation. - Undertake geo-environmental laboratory testing to determine potential risks to the Scheme posed by on site contamination, especially relating to areas close to the former landfill (known and unknown locations) within the Scheme. - Investigate and monitor the gas and groundwater regime. - Provide information on potential suitability of site-won material from cuttings and its acceptability for re-use in proposed areas of fill. - Identify existing utilities across the site by carrying out on utility mapping survey
