Tender description

The Peace and Conflict Resolution Evidence Platform is a 7-year accountable grant held by Edinburgh Law School from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), with a value of over 19m GBP. Edinburgh Law School leads a consortium of partner organisations in the delivery of the grant, which includes over 75 individual research projects and is now in year 5 of delivery. The aim of this research is to contribute to donors understanding of how to engage with highly fragmented constitutional environments – and the contextual and systemic complexity which all actors have to navigate. It also provides a basis for cross-context learning – across conflict contexts, but also where appropriate extending this to non-conflict and Global North contexts, in which patchworks of constitutional relationships, produced and mediated through a range of micro-bureaucratic practices, also pertain. Lot 1: PeaceRep and FCDO will work with a contractor on one research project together. This project has three strands. Strand 1 : At a high level, this project is interested in the variety of forms of political relationship within an ecosystem; their genesis and interactions; and their arrangement into a more or less functioning “constitutional patchwork”. This work is theoretical and comparative, informed by on-the-ground experiences. Strand 2 : At a meso-level, this project drills down into the political economic aspects of high-level inquiry. It focuses on financing as a constitutional practice. Stand 3: Policy engagement
