Tender description
The proposed procurement will enable the Council to appoint a single contractor to carry out essential works for the Wet Pour Safety Surface and Playground Equipment Replacement at Globe Primary School. It is proposed that the existing soft play area at Globe Primary School, currently overlaid with artificial grass, be fully stripped and replaced with a new green soft play surface. The current surface is in poor condition, presenting a significant trip hazard due to unevenness caused by general wear, patch repairs, and age-related deterioration. In addition, several items of playground equipment are exhibiting signs of advanced wear and may have exceeded their serviceable life. This equipment now poses a potential health and safety risk for the children and requires replacement. Multiple condition surveys have been conducted in recent years and will be made available to the appointed contractor to inform the scope and approach. While the exact specifications of the replacement playground equipment are yet to be confirmed, these will be finalised in consultation with the contractor and relevant stakeholders. The contractor will be required to comply with all relevant regulations and statutory duties, including those set out in the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015). The procurement of the required works will be awarded to Etec Contract Services via Direct Award through the LHC Framework, specifically LHC RM3 Framework (Lot 9 – Multi-Disciplinary Works). This approach ensures compliance with regulations while securing access to prequalified contractors with a proven track record in delivering high-quality flat roof refurbishment and replacement works.
