Dublin City Council Contract for Investigation Works Contractor and PSCS for the Point Bridge and Tom Clarke Bridge Widening Project Detailed Structural Investigation

Tender description

The structural investigation is required to allow a detailed assessment of the existing Tom Clarke Bridge substructure to be carried out. The investigation encompasses specific areas of the bridge's substructure, including: - Steel tubular piles located at the bridge intermediate piers Gridlines B, C, and E. - Intermediate pier concrete. - Bascule pier concrete. To facilitate this assessment, non-destructive testing (NDT) methods will be employed during dive and above-water level surveys (The River Liffey is tidal with a typical range of 4m between high and low tides). These methods will include vertical coring, in-situ testing, laboratory testing, and the development of both Factual and Interpretive Reports, in alignment with the provided Specification. This investigation aims to provide a detailed understanding of the substructure's condition, ensuring the bridge can support the planned widened fixed span decks and identifying any necessary structural interventions.
