Tender description

The realignment of the last 400m of the River Tromie through the excavation of a new channel, lowering embankments and formation of riffles and bars using river sediment. Lot 1: This Project will realign the last 400m of the River Tromie as it flows across RSPB Insh Marshes reserve and joins the River Spey. The work involves excavation of a new channel and ditch embankments, transportation of that spoil to a storage area 1km away and creation of fish-friendly riffles, berms and bars in the new channel to ensure fish passage. The nature reserve is highly designated and the operation must be carried out in a very limited time window - normally August and September. However, the planning permission will be considered by the Cairngorms National Park Authority Planning Committee on the 29th August, so the earliest work could potentially start this year is the 1st September.
