Tender description

A key challenge faced by our armed forces in operational environments is being able to confidently recognise and react to the effects of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference on the many different systems and platforms; training is key to providing them with the knowledge and skills for doing this. Dstl (on behalf of UKStratCom and the jHub) will be shortly publishing a requirement on R-Cloud for the design and development of a low Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWAP-C) Direct Injection GNSS jammer device to be temporarily installed between a Land or Maritime platform’s GPS antenna and GPS receiver. The injection jammer introduces a controlled amount of jamming signal into the equipment to simulate the effects of real-world jamming environments, without affecting the UK civilian population and emergency services. This will be informed by previous prototype designs and learnings from Dstl, and deliver a number of Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6-8 devices, with training, so that they can be tested and used on military training exercises.
