Training is a key aspect of service delivery in social care. For a significant cohort of staff, mandatory training is required by national regulations to ensure that services can continue to be offered. This is particularly the case for those who work in our provider services such as care homes and day centres. Although the specifics of these courses may change from year to year as new guidance and legislation is introduced by central government, this is an ongoing mandatory need for these services for them to run a safe and regulated service. The London Borough of Waltham Forest (LBWF) has a duty as an employer for registered professionals (inc. social workers, teachers and occupational therapists) to ensure that Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is available. Without access to CPD, staff risk losing their professional registration which prevents them from being able to practice and fulfill their job roles.
