Tender description
Wexford County Council proposes to carry out urban regeneration and improvement works at two sites in New Ross, Co. Wexford – Quay Street and The North Quay. The proposed development at Quay Street will involve the pedestrianisation of the existing street to develop further the connection to the river and new Greenway while The North Quay will provide the connection to the river front, allowing for a multi-functional space outside the existing municipal office. This project offers significant opportunity for New Ross to grow its reputation as the Tourism Destination Town of the region. The sites are strategically located in relation to the primary retail streets and conveniently linked to other visitor attractions of the town centre, thereby encouraging increased visitor dwell time and resultant spend for the benefit of retailers and the local community generally. ------ The public realm improvements associated with the project will not only enhance the general appearance of the town centre, for both visitors and residents alike, but can also boost business sales by encouraging day and evening economies. Wexford County Council now proposes to appoint a design team for full-service delivery, for Stage (ii) Detailed Design to Stage (v) Handover of Works. The Council shall make a single appointment, and the appointed firm will be responsible for engaging directly any necessary sub-consultants (e.g. structural/services engineers, conservation architects, quantity surveyors, mechanical and electrical engineer, etc.). Funding, under the Rural Regeneration and Development fund, has been secured for this project and it is planned to proceed to construction as soon as possible. WCC is now inviting tenders to provide a full consultancy service to take this project from detailed design stage through to construction and handover, to include: • Project management services • Architectural services • Landscape architectural services • Structural/civil engineering services • Electrical engineering services • Quantity surveying/cost management services • Archaeological advisory services • Procurement • Construction supervision/Employer’s representative (non-resident) • Project Supervisor for the Design Process
