RSPB Scotland: Forsinard Flows Peatland Restoration, Nam Breac Phase 2 & 3

Tender description

Multi-year tender for the supply of open-hill peatland restoration works at RSPB Forsinard Flows, Nam Breac Phase 2 (2025/26, 191ha) and Nam Breac Phase 3 (2026/27, 401ha). Lot 1: The work in this tender covers a multi-year Peatland Action application for the restoration of open-hill peatland habitat at Nam Breac, RSPB Forsinard, to be undertaken between September 25 to March 26 (Phase 2, 191ha), and September 26 to March 27 (Phase 3, 401ha) (See Annex 1-5). This work follows the completion of Peatland Action funded restoration at Nam Breac Phase 1 in 2024/25. The project aims to restore peat erosion features caused by natural and artificial drainage and some deer trampling within the area, which have been identified by RSPB staff during extensive ground-truthing. The restoration will address all of the eroding features on site using suitable machinery for peat-based techniques, and manual construction by hand on very wet ground using plastic pile, wooden and coir log dams.
