Tender description

NHS North East London ICB is seeking to commission a perinatal peer support service for mothers and birthing parents (MBP) and fathers and non-birthing parents (FNBP) in Newham who struggle with perinatal mental illness. The service will support parents during pregnancy and up to two years post birth. It will have a pathway for mothers and birthing parents, as well as a pathway for fathers and non-birthing parents. Parents will have the opportunity to engage with support groups and therapeutic activities, as well as 1:1 peer support. The service will aim to match parents with peer supporters who have similar lived experiences. Support should be provided in-person at accessible venues throughout Newham (e.g. children’s centres), and the provider should offer online/telephone appointments too. The service will have a target of providing support to 150 parents (at least 70 of which should be fathers or non-birthing parents). Parents supported 1:1 and attendees at in-person group events will count towards this target.
