Tender description

C26E/10 Viewmill Bridge is a twin span masonry slab deck bridge (culvert) located in Miltonduff. It carries the C26E road and crosses the Coalkeittick Burn. The bridge is lightly trafficked and has no weight restrictions. The structure has a one lane carriageway. Principal inspections conducted in 04/04/2023 indicated both parapets were struck and damaged by vehicle on two separate occasions. Both parapets are completely dislodged and fell into the burn. The most recent vehicular damaged occurred in 19/04/2023. This caused the western parapet to become dislodged and fall into the burn as stated above, including one of the main supporting deck beams. The bridge (culvert) requires replacement.
