Tender description

Construction of All Abilities path and Viewing Platform plus upgrade of existing Boardwalk and Viewing Platform The Newburgh & Ythan Community Trust is registered as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) established in 2019. It delivered Phase 1 of the Newburgh Seal Viewing Project; the redesign and construction of the Beach Road Car Park, in 2022 and now wishes to undertake the design and construction of Phase 2 . This comprises an All Abilities path and/or boardwalk from the Beach Road Car Park to the side of the Ythan estuary and the construction of a low level viewing platform, and from here boardwalk access to the shoreline. In addition, the Trust wishes to upgrade the existing boardwalk from the low ground close to the car park to the high level viewpoint by (a) installing a non-slip surface and (b) repositioning and enlarging the high level viewpoint. In addition it wishes to (c) restore areas of eroded sand dune adjacent to the viewing platform and by installing wooden paling or another method, to prevent visitors using the eroded dune face to access the lower ground. The invitation to tender is for the design and construction of the new All Abilities path or boardwalk and low level viewpoint/ access to the shoreline and the upgrade of the existing boardwalk and enlargement and repositioning of the high level viewpoint and the restoration of the eroded sand dune areas and prevention of further erosion.
