Provision of Time Charter Passenger Ferry Services

Orkney Islands Council (the Authority) on behalf of Orkney Ferries Limited as the client has a requirement for the operation of a time charter passenger ferry service on a number of lifeline routes as a contingency planning arrangement. This service will be utilised when Orkney Ferries’s designated vessel for its lifeline route/s are not available due to refit or on an emergency basis leading to the requirement for an alternative vessel and crew to be made available at short notice. A framework for the appointment of suppliers/contractors to meet this requirement to cover four different ferry service routes is to be established to enable short notice variable contracts to be commissioned as and when required within the period of the four years duration of the contract.
