Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy Services (Technical) (Urban Architect Consultant led) Laneway Network to West of City Centre

Tender description

Kilkenny County Council, in conjunction with the National Transport Authority (NTA), seeks to appoint a Multi-Disciplinary Services Consultant (Technical) (Urban Architecture led) for the NTA Project Phase 2 for the Laneway Network to West of City Centre to undertake improvements of these lanes through surface treatments, lighting (both public and feature) and reducing the use by vehicular traffic. Such works will facilitate greater use of these lanes by pedestrians and cyclists enliving these lanes and encourgaing economic actvitity opportunities. Kilkenny has a large number of laneways; many run behind housing terraces parallel to the street in front. The use and regeneration of laneways will help provide a good solution to network continuity. A greater vibrancy can be brought to the laneways by enhancing the condition of the laneways and improving the lighting, legibility and wayfinding of the laneways. The laneways will provide a very useful cycle network connection.
