Multiply is a national Department for Education (DfE) three-year adult numeracy project which is part of the Government’s Levelling Up Initiative. The DfE awarded South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) a Multiply allocation to increase the levels of functional numeracy in the adult population across South Yorkshire. The programme is now entering its final year which will run from the 1st April until 31st March 2025. The vision for adult learners in Barnsley accessing Multiply provision is to provide innovative and high-quality activities to increase people's confidence with numeracy (and its relevance to everyday life) for learners to move on to further maths and other learning qualifications, demonstrating progression and positive destinations. Providers will deliver numeracy activities developed in partnership with community organisations and other partners aimed at engaging the hardest to reach learners; those not in the labour market or other groups identified locally as in need. Activities will be delivered in locations and marketed appropriately to ensure the target participant group is maximised. Successful activities will meet the agreed outcomes of the project and enable learner progression. The financial envelope will be used to deliver engagement and substantive activities as outlined within this specification. In addition, a separate commission of a number of small community grants will also be implemented to maximise the reach and impact of the project. All providers will be expected to meet or exceed the standards of performance including: • Learner Engagement • Achievement of Learning • Learner progression at every stage of learning and demonstration of learner destinations/outcomes. There are 489 engagement outputs and 92 substantive outputs in total attached to this contract. BMBC has the right to contract more than one provider to deliver against this contract.
