DFC 5714369 Shankill Gateway Phase 1 PREI (Works)

Tender description

The project is for the provision of a contractor to undertake Shankill Gateway Public Realm Environmental Improvements that is a large scheme extending from Peters Hill to Agnes Street. The proposed works will include high quality paving, kerbing in natural stone and carriageway resurfacing. Other works include earthworks, demolition, drainage and soft landscaping. The project will be delivered in a busy city environment along an arterial route with restricted streets and footpath widths. Extreme care will have to be taken at all stages of the works to minimise disruption to businesses and the community and maintain the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicular traffic flows through the city centre by the appropriate use of temporary traffic and pedestrian management. The project requires high quality interventions that will improve the sense of arrival for visitors, improve connectivity along the arterial route and side streets and create attractive civic space. Excellent stakeholder management will be required with businesses, local communities, utilities and Statutory Bodies including DfI to ensure traffic management plans are agreed for the works and that the completed scheme is accepted.
