Crawley Borough Council - Solar Carport Project

Tender description

Crawley Borough Council requires a Contractor to design and build a solar carport scheme at the K2 Crawley Centre in Crawley, over areas of the existing car park. The contract is inclusive of the purchase of the solar panels. Multiple route to market options were investigated however funding allocation and timetable restrictions would not have allowed for any contract to be awarded soon enough for the project to be completed on time. This was critical as funding was connected to time limitations. An exemption was granted by Crawley Borough Council, in accordance with section 6.3 of the Council's Procurement Code, to award a below-threshold works contract by direct award on the grounds of genuine urgency.
