Tender description

Digger works in the form of peat dam creation and re-profiling at Lumbister, Yell, Shetland. Our Shetland site is comprised of extensive areas of actively eroding peat hags, gullies, and man-made ditches, exporting high volumes of water from the site. There are hotspots of micro-erosion across areas of the site. Some of the sites site are in an actively eroding condition. The site boundary for the restoration area is approximately 154 ha in size, with the footprint of work to be treated expected to be approximately 146 ha. It is expected that the Contractor will work to restore all erosion features in this area using a combination of machine work and hand labour. The work will be procured on a treatment basis which includes machine days, hand labour days and the supply of materials. The project is due to commence at the start of the August 2023. The duration of the project will be from the end of August 2023 until 1st March 2024. It is anticipated that work will be complete on site by the end of November 2023. This builds in some contingency for some work to continue into December if weather conditions allow.
