Tender description

Derry City and Strabane District Council seek tenders from suitably qualified Display Case Manufacturer with specialist Museum and Heritage / Visitor Attraction experience and technical knowledge to design, manufacture, deliver, assemble and install display cases for the DNA Museum project, which meet accredited museum standards in terms of conservation and security, inclusive of standard warranties and aftercare maintenance services. The main area of work is concentrated within the DNA Museum galleries within the former barracks in Ebrington. The scope of works will include: Design and fabrication of 73 bespoke museum-grade display cases fit for displaying original artefacts, which meet industry standards for humidity control, air exchange, security and ease of operation for the end user and have a life expectancy of 20 years. Provision of a display case lighting consultant to advise and work with the Museum Team to achieve the best results for lighting artefacts within cases, including advice on access and replacements. Delivery, assembly and installation on site in Derry~Londonderry across the Museum’s 7 galleries. The fit-out contractor (to be procured separately) will be required to provide a dust free environment close to practical completion that will enable the successful Display Case Manufacturer to assemble and install their cases on site. As such, co-ordination between the Display Case Manufacturer and Fit-Out Contractor will be critical throughout the project programme to ensure this critical period on-site takes place successfully.
