Clydesdale Transport Options - SOR

Consultancy services to provide public transport options for Clydesdale, South Lanarkshire Lot 1: The Strategic Definition, and Preparation and Briefing, will map out existing transport provision in the area. It will be informed by case studies of existing Community Transport initiatives and utilise existing baseline information alongside rigorous community consultation to explore the options for expansion of existing CT services where there are any and the development of CT services where there are none. The geographical area will cover settlements in rural Clydesdale, predominantly to the south of the A70, but including Coalburn, Forth, Lesmahagow, Woolfords and surrounds, including cross-boundary where appropriate. This includes areas within the 10% most deprived in Scotland where car ownership levels are lower than the national average. Existing cross-boundary key transport hubs will be identified by consultants including, Carluke, Hamilton, Lanark, Larkhall, Carstairs Village (train station) and Biggar, and potential transport hubs at Abington and Lesmahagow, with long-distance destinations including Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dumfries. Options should be broken down by smaller geographical units, upon analysis by the consultant. A suite of costed options will support the development of sustainable rural communities through a number of proposals that maximise mobility, fostering a sense of belonging, bridging divides and empowering individuals / groups to access education, employment, healthcare, youth initiatives, retail hubs, recreational sites and social opportunities that are the bedrock of a thriving community.
