Garden Waste Disposal - SMDC

Tender description

The Garden Waste contract for Staffordshire Moorlands District Council ends on 31st March 2024, and will therefore need to be re-procured as soon as possible in order to find a suitable disposal point for their waste. However, in order to procure the most cost-efficient disposal point for each collection authority, it is more practical to tender for the contracts together as part of a framework. This provides operational flexibility and financial security to both the County Council and the Districts & Boroughs as we will be able to procure a wide range of disposal points across the County and surrounding area. Furthermore, the disposal framework will also ensure that the County Council is able to offer the remaining District and Boroughs an appropriate disposal point when their current Garden Waste contracts come to an end. With various legislation affecting both the Collection and Disposal authorities over the next five years, a disposal framework for Garden Waste will ensure that the County Council will minimise the financial risk posed by such changes, and therefore mitigate against a substantial increase in gate fees over the coming years.
