Tender description

The Contracting Authority proposes to fit out the former Ophthalmology ward on the ground floor for use as additional bedspace to cope with additional demand forecasted over the winter months at Cork University Hospital campus. The proposed additional beds will reduce pressure on the service by increasing the the capacity of facility as a whole. In order to facilitate the provision of the additional bed spaces, there is a requirement to strip out and decant the existing Ophthalmology ward (works taking place under separate contract and will be complete in advance of this phase of the works). The scope of works for this contract shall include, but not limited to: - New Mechanical and Electrical Services installations throughout to suit new use. - New internal partitioning to suit required layout - New internal doors and joinery fittings - New floor, wall and ceiling finishes - New sanitary provisions to include en-suite shower and wc facilities where possible - New Clean and Dirty utility areas. - New Pantry, admin office, Nurses station and touchdown base/ reception. The proposed location of the works will be on the ground floor of the existing Hospital Building on a fully live and operational hospital campus, requiring due consideration for vehicular and pedestrian movement at all times while these works occur on site. The size of the area in question is circa 600 sq.m.
