On-site donations play an important role in the fundraising strategy for The Story and cultural venues nationally. Income from these devices can be significant, whether unrestricted or allocated to a specific project. Payment trends post COVID accelerated the already significant decrease in cash payments. As the move towards a more cashless society continues, facilitating contactless card payment donations is becoming essential. At present donations at The Story can be taken via the EPOS system, but this is not an ideal solution. Investment in freestanding contactless payment units should provide a return on that investment many times over. It can also increase engagement with audiences and provide valuable insight into their experience of the venue. As a result, the Council are exploring the market to understand the Cashless Donation Solution offerings available in order to meet our requirements.
