Palliative Care Support - Children's Hospice

An Urgent Award has been made for an out of hours clinical support to community end of life/palliative care services. The service supports children who are receiving palliative/end of life care. It works alongside our children's palliative care nurse and provide out of hours and holiday cover . The reason for the urgency was not foreseeable by and not attributable to the relevant authority as the previous provider gave notice of their intention not to enter into a further contract. A new provider was therefore needed urgently due to the specific requirements of the Service and Patient safety. There was a significant risk currently to meeting the care needs and experience of children on end of life pathways. This contract is for 12 months starting 1 April 2024 - 31 March 2025 Lot 1: The service supports children who are receiving palliative/end of life care. It works alongside children's palliative care nurse and provide out of hours and holiday cover. Without this support in place, families will not have this important care when they need it, which could result in additional hospital visits and potentially ending their life in hospital, which may be contrary to their wishes.
