Works include the reconfiguration and upgrade of the existing Benbulben ward at St. Johns Hospital Sligo to provide an off site acute Medical ward (26 bed unit to serve Sligo University Hospital. The unit will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and be adaptable to the changing needs of Sligo University Hospital. Patients in the unit will remain under the care of the admitting/referring consultant. The nett floor area of the unit that requires refurbishment is circa 600m2.The proposed upgrade works include • Existing refurbishment of the current Rehab ward and ancillary areas. • Refurbishment and upgrading existing multi-bed wards and alterations to the toilet layouts to construct en-suites specific to each 4 bed ward and two single bedrooms each with new en-suites. • Reconfigured Ambulance Entrance for patient transfer from SUH and new Clerical reception area. • Additional Therapy space for allied Health professionals • Upgrade of all flat roofs and roof lights and upgrades of existing building Fabric to Part L compliance and Pumping of existing cavity wall construction with thermal bead. • The proposed works also include the additional refurbishment of an existing bungalow on the St. Johns Hospital Campus to provide staff changing accommodation and on call Doctor overnight accommodation.
