Lot 1: UoE School of Engineering has for the past 10-years used a particular teaching method with equipment and software for the core 3rd year course of the Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics & Computer Science programmes of study. In recent years, the class size has grown very drastically to 300+ students, making it one of the largest honours courses in the whole College of Science & Engineering. Quanser is the manufacturer and sole vendor of Qube Servo 3 and associated software. Alternative equipment options have been considered; however this would require substantial cost and effort to completely redesign the laboratory experiments, a rewrite of the laboratory manuals and re-training of the teaching assistants. This is not a sustainable investment for the University. This teaching equipment and software will be utilised for many years and deliver against the current University 2030 strategy.
