Kilkenny County Council CFT for Urban Design Strategy for John’s Quay/John Street Area, Kilkenny City

Tender description

Kilkenny County Council received funding under Strand 1 of THRIVE (Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme) for the development of an Urban Design Strategy for the John’s Quay/John Street area in Kilkenny City. The Urban Design Strategy is also to identify projects that promote the conservation and adaptive re-use of built heritage stock, and in particular proposals for heritage buildings in the ownership of Kilkenny County Council. A key element in this process is the promotion of the values and working principles of the New European Bauhaus to ensure that selected projects are conceived and developed with a re-informed citizen and stakeholder involvement. A Key outcome of the Urban Design Strategy will be the selection of a project that best fits the requirements for a further application for funding under Strand 2 of THRIVE.
