GMCA 824 Temporary Access Road at GMCA Waithlands

Tender description

900mm culverted pipe is located beneath the former landfill area. The culvert consists of two sections running from south to north conveying surface water to the River Roch. The culvert is believed to be in poor condition and GMCA need to facilitate access for further condition assessments and investigations. GMCA are proposing to construct a new access track within the waste mass of the historical landfill, to enable a jetvac tanker to access manhole reference MH6 at the foot of the landfill slope. The existing slope is approximately 1:4, but the road needs to be designed to 1:12, to enable vehicular access. Thus a new access track has been designed with a steepest gradient of 1:12 and a turning area at the base of the slope, to allow a rigid tanker to reverse back to MH6 and then drive forward back up the slope. The slope is currently densely vegetated with semi mature trees. Scope of Works: The scope of the works includes, but is not limited to: Setting up working areas Demarcation of site boundary and provision of signage. Traffic management of works in or affecting public highway/open areas/car parks. Confirm line and level of existing upper drainage system. Survey existing manholes and propose means of connecting proposed road drainage system to existing surface water drainage system. Undertake setting out procedures. Carry out tree felling. Site compaction trial. Earthworks and grading to formation level. Laying the geogrid combined separator as per the road detail. Prepare subbase, base course, and surface layer. Testing and quality control. Test and dispose of excavated material off site. Refer to Appendix A for the contract drawings. Refer to the Site Information for as-built drawings related to the Works.
