Tender description

Network Rail currently has two separately procured contracts in an aggregated master vendor model (tendered as Design, Build Migrate and operate – (DBMO) models), across two areas of the business (Atos – NR IT and Capgemini – Network Rail Telecom).  Providers also manage a large number of separate non-core service contracts as part of the contract, which was driven through convenience for NR (e.g. Palo Alto, Zscaler ). The datacentres comprise of two sites which contain: 1) >90% virtualised servers on private cloud with virtual networking 2) Firewalls and load balancers 3) Cloud hosted WAF 4) Cloud hosted SIEM and infrastructure monitoring Security tooling, backup and patching tools Oracle Exadata The scope of the up-and-coming tender is for the provision of Data Centre Infrastructure management services (NB this excludes connectivity). The physical space and rent of the data centre environment will be continued to be provisioned via Crown Hosting Services. The current annual spend is in the region of £6m pa, with both contracts expiring between June and December 2026.
