Tender description

Plymouth is one of four national pilots to undertake a place-based approach to school improvement work. It began three years ago when Plymouth City Council and the Department for Education commissioned a joint project where the city’s nineteen secondary schools committed to working together to improve outcomes at KS4. A plan was co-constructed to make best use of local, regional and national expertise and to centralise resources for the benefit of Plymouth’s children. Place-based work in Plymouth is now in its third year and, the city’s education leaders have agreed that for true sustainable improvement to occur system leaders in Plymouth must collaborate on the issues that can only be overcome through joint working. Consequently, the strategic goal for 2023-24 is to ‘Increase inclusion across all schools and the community– every child included 100% of their time in Plymouth schools’.
