The cost consultants’ general obligations in completing the commission will include; • Comparing design solutions with the client objectives and suggest areas for discussion with the project design team and the client representative where value can be enhanced, and unnecessary expenditure eliminated. • Continuously check cost of design against the client cost plan and advise the lead consultant and client representatives where the current cost plan may be exceeded; and to put forward with the design team, design solutions in line with the client objectives where value can be enhanced and for savings to be achieved within the approved cost plan. • Regularly meet the design team officers to review the design in progress and comment to the client representative and project team. • Provide information to the principal designer and client representatives on a monthly basis identifying the updated cost plan and indicating the expected outturn cost of the project. In summary, the Council is seeking to appoint a cost consultant to: • Review scheme proposals supplied by LBH and the architects, attend meetings to discuss proposals, and provide feedback to support the development of optimum planning submissions, that balance design quality and sustainability with cost efficiency and deliverability • Provision of cost plans (initial, interim and final) to support the Council’s financial models and business case for the schemes.
