Genomics Order Management – Web Portal Phase

Throughout 2022 and 2023, the Genomics Unit has been running a requirements phase for a national Genomics Ordering Management Project. The Genomics Ordering management project is designed to streamline and optimise the genomics test order management between primary, secondary, and tertiary care settings (within England) and the NHS Genomic Medicine Service for WGS (Whole Genome Sequencing) and Non-WGS (Non-Whole Genome Sequencing) genomics testing pathways. In this context, interoperability is defined as the ability to electronically request, process, manage and track genomic requests, samples, results and reports across multiple settings in a standardised approach. Key deliverables from this phase include: • core features of a non-production central architecture that manages relevant messaging of test requests, and associated samples. • non-production central API(s) that connect the central architecture to: • EHR(s) • LIMS(s) • A web portal • NGIS infrastructure • within a non-production web portal, EHR and LIMS, the ability to create a test request and associated samples, receive status updates and manage binary file reports. • within a non-production LIMS, the ability to conduct basic processing tasks. • within a non-production NGIS, the ability to receive and provide updates on WGS Test Requests.
