The East Midlands ADASS region consists of 10 Local Authorities (LAs). The branch is a mixture of shire and unitary authorities. A number of our Directors cover both children and adults services. In preparation for the new CQC Assurance Regime we have been focusing on supporting councils in preparing for Assessment through introducing a more robust form of challenge conversation which is more akin to the model used by Ofsted in children’s social care, and offers Directors and their leadership teams the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of their departments current performance including particular strengths, areas of challenge and any improvement plans as well as an opportunity to understand and evaluate the wider political and corporate support for adult social care.
