*Please note this opportunity is only open to bidders on RM6100 who responded positively to the RFI* NHSBT provides a blood and transplant service to the NHS. Every year, our volunteer donors give around 2 million blood donations and 3,500 organs – saving and transforming countless lives. We currently have circa 52 mobile Blood Donation teams, who collect around 75% of our whole blood donations within local communities. This involves travelling to locations, such as Town Halls and Community Centres, setting up a Blood Donation Session for the day, taking donations from local blood donors and then packing up the session, and repeating this at a different location on the next working day. In addition to this, we also have circa 25 Blood Donor Centres, which collect around 25% of our whole blood donations and other blood components. These centres are generally situated within cities, towns and hospital bases. We are looking to expand this capability by opening a donor centre every year and we would need to have a Supplier to support any expansion. Session Solution has revolutionised the way that we collect blood donations from our volunteer blood donors and has been designed, where a mobile data signal exists, to give mobile blood collection teams access to near real time information including donor records and appointments grids. Where a mobile data signal does not exist, Session Solution stores the data and will transfer the data on a USB stick which is used in our manufacturing centres to update the database if it is not restored by the end of session Session Solution has provided NHSBT with numerous benefits, including a more resilient IT infrastructure, a safer and more streamlined process for our volunteer donors, a reduction in paper driven processes and better visibility of blood donations that have been collected further down the supply chain. In addition, Session Solution has provided a foundation from which further digital enhancements can be made to Blood Donation sessions.
