Tender description

At the hamlet of Westdean, East Sussex, the South Downs Way follows a long flight of timber steps up a wooded bank into Friston Forest. The steps are well used by the public and are now in need of replacing. The existing steps have irregular step heights and step treads making them difficult to use, with an accompanying handrail that has fallen over in sections. Our aim is to replace the entire flight of steps and handrail, reforming the steps to ensure consistent rises and treads, making them easier to use for as many people as possible.
