Land Management Works for Lizard Downs, Lizard National Nature Reserve

Tender description

Land management works are required to restore the heathland on Lizard Downs within the Lizard National Nature Reserve (NNR), Helston in Cornwall. Works include: 1) cutting of firebreaks (c.4,800m in total) and the subsequent burning of heathland (c.3.8ha in total); 2) restoration of Mediterranean Temporary Pond habitat along pathways (c.2,800m in total); 3) excavation/restoration of meres/pools (3,000sqm total area); 4) creation of a new mere (72sqm total area); and 5) creation of approximately 20 small pits (c.1,800sqm, ranging from 20sqm to 670sqm). All works must be completed by 31/03/2024.
