Appointment of contractors for design and build of science exhibits for Xplore!

Tender description

North Wales Science Ltd runs a Science Discovery Centre called Xplore!. North Wales Science will from now on be referred to as “Xplore!” for the purpose of these documents. Xplore! is a subsidiary of Wrexham University and its registered office is Plas Coch Campus, Mold Road, Wrexham, Wales, LL11 2AW. New exhibits are needed to stay current and competitive and meet the needs of our visitors. Xplore! has secured Shared Prosperity Fund investment from the UK Government that enables us to enhance our visitor experience. Xplore! has an existing exhibition that will be improved with these 3 new permanent exhibits. The wider funding will also enable Xplore! (via separate pieces of work) to carry out market research and feasibility studies relating to future utilization of the first-floor of the science centre. The summary of the scope of this contract will be follows: To design, manufacture, supply and install 3 new permanent science exhibits. To work with Xplore! and our appointed science exhibition, to finalise designs for the exhibit(s) selected. To work with Xplore! to ensure the exhibit(s) fit with our branding and materiality specification requirements. To build the exhibit(s) within the timeframe available. To arrange for delivery and installation to Xplore! To deliver staff training in the correct use of the exhibit(s) and how to maintain them. To arrange for a 1-year guarantee and maintenance contract for the exhibit(s), with all issues to be fixed in a timely manner (within 4 weeks) at no additional cost to Xplore!. The target contract dates will commence January 2024 and exhibit installation is expected to take place September 2024 (with scope to move this back as far as December 2024 at the very latest). The maximum total budget for the three exhibit design and build contracts is £120,000 including VAT and inclusive of all materials, contractor fees, delivery, installation, the 1-year guarantee and maintenance contract, and all other costs incurred by the contractor. The budget should include all relevant taxes and currency conversions.
