Kingsway Tunnel Safety Enhancement Works

Tender description

Merseytravel is looking to procure the services of a civils contractor to undertake safety enhancement works within Kingsway Tunnel. The works will see improvement to the existing access from the road deck level to the Victoria ventilation station level Emergency Exits comprising removal of the existing pre-cast walkway units locally and the installation of new pre-cast ramps and stairs and associated handrailing and bollards as appropriate. In addition, there will be localised improvement to the access to the Mid- River Lay-by with the provision of a vertical ladder and handrailing as appropriate. Included in the works will be improvements to the existing portal access with additional handrailing provided and localised concrete repairs. There is to be the installation of a new Emergency Point and creation of level access (at carriageway level) at this location. Localised concrete repairs to the splitter beam at the base of the exhaust shaft at the Promenade Ventilation Station (accessed from the road deck at high level). Keywords: Works
