Upgrade of the Lavatec CBW PLC at Llansamlet and Greenvale

Background: NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership Laundry Services requires the upgrade of two Lavatec Continuous Batch Washers (CBW) at Llansamlet and Green Vale Laundry Sites. The Llansamlet Laundry 50kg rated Lavatec Continuous Batch Washer (CBW) was installed in 2004 and therefore require an upgrade. The electronic Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) for the CBW require an upgrade as they have exceeded their expected life span and are now obsolete. The Serial number of the CBW is 50.58E. The Lavatec CBW was installed at Green Vale laundry in Cwmbran in 2003 and is also a 50Kg washer. The electronic controls for the CBW require an upgrade as they have exceeded their expected life span and are now obsolete. The Serial number of the CBW is 50.530 Work Required: The Lavatec CBWs requires the following Hardware installations: • Replacement of the Main PLC including all of the input/output cards. • Installation of Input interface terminals. • Replacement of the output relay boards. • Replacement of the existing button station for a new HDMI touch screen. • Replacement of the Control PC for a modern touch screen PC. • Installation of new inverter drives for the main drive motors to replace the old soft starts and contactors. • Fused outputs for the existing solenoids. • New 24V DC power supply. • All wiring modifications required must be included. • Installation of a 4G router for online support. The Lavatec CBWs also require the installation, programming and commissioning of a software package which is compatible with the CBWs, Press, Dryers, and Track system. The software must be able to run all the CBW wash programs and allow for online support.
