Allt Forgan Peat depth -RSPB

Tender description

The 10,000 ha Lake Vyrnwy Estate is owned by Hafren Dyfrdwy and managed in partnership with RSPB Lake Vyrnwy. RSPB directly manage 4,800ha of uplands much of which is Blanket bog. An ambitious peatland restoration programme is currently underway, and this contract is to deliver the base line data required to extend this work across Allt Forgan, our largest upland heft. We require a contractor to measure the depth of the peat at regular intervals across the 1,400-hectare heft. Peat depth measurements will be required at 50m intervals across the 1,400 hectares to align with mandatory peatland restoration standards. The resulting data will then dictate the area eligible for restoration and contributes to the estimated carbon emissions calculations.
