HD28 Pavement Resurfacing, Retexturing and Capital Maintenance Schemes 2021

Kerry County Council’s area engineers carry out defect surveys of national road networks within their areas. All defects with repair cost estimations of between €50,000 - €200,000 are logged as “Category B” defects or Capital Maintenance Schemes. Repair works at five of these “Category B” defects have been funded by TII for completion in 2021. The works will include, milling/planing out of existing surfaces, excavation of failed sub-base layers, disposal of waste to correct licensed facilities, laying geo-grid where necessary, laying sub-base layers and reinstating road structure and surface. Similar work will be carried out at the National Road Defect Repair site. The HD28 locations above are sites on the National Road network which have been identified by TII surveys for having poor skid resistance. It is the recommendation of TII that these sites be resurfaced or retextured. The purpose of the HD28 schemes is to treat the existing surface by retexturing or remove the existing surface at these locations and resurface to increase skid resistance. The works will include: retexturing, milling/planing out of existing surfaces, disposal of waste to correct licensed facility and relaying new surface.
