National Outpatients Clinical Specialist Support Pilot

Outpatients makes up approximately 80% of the NHS referral to treatment waiting list. There is a business critical need to transform models of outpatient elective care and make greater use of technology and remote consultation to offer patients more choice in how they receive care and reducing waiting times for elective care. The National Outpatient Recovery and Transformation Programme is implementing a national outpatient clinical support solution, to enable providers across England to source clinicians available to perform direct clinical care to support outpatient recovery and transformation within NHS secondary care. The care will be delivered face to face and remotely, including across existing boundaries, enabled through trust telemedicine facilities.
