Teifi Phosphate Reduction and Mitigation Project – Riparian Fencing and Tree Planting

Ceredigion County Council is seeking to procure the services of a qualified and experienced consultant or organisation to implement 9km of riparian fencing along the Afon Teifi. Exclusion of stock from strips along the river will allow vegetation to grow which will intercept surface water run-off from the land, preventing sediment and phosphate from entering the river. Potential areas and willing land owners have been identified, details have been provided in Appendix 1. Fencing will be either 2 or 3 strand barb and sheep wire (tbc depending on site specifications) with posts spaced 2m apart, within a minimum of 2-3m of watercourses. Posts must be FSC certified a 15-year guarantee In some instances access gates will be required.
